Linked drives and discovery trails on Greater Blue Mountains Drive

The Greater Blue Mountains Drive includes 18 discovery trails that branch off the main route, each one taking you on a unique adventure. The common link is the network of national parks and conservation areas that make up the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area that stretches from the Upper Hunter, to Mudgee, Goulburn, the Southern Highlands and the Hawkesbury. Access from Sydney is easy via the Hawkesbury Valley, from Glenbrook in the Blue Mountains or Mount Annan Botanic Gardens in the Macarthur region.

Highlights include the beautiful limestone formations in Jenolan Caves, the Wollemi Pine, a living fossil best seen at Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens, kangaroos in the wild and spectacular lookouts at Echo Point in Katoomba and Govetts Leap in Blackheath.

You’ll find plenty of ways to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Bushwalking, mountain biking, camping and canoeing surrounded by pristine nature is a major drawcard of this drive.
