Vibe: Shake it like Beyonce, take a wine flight, or soak in the fantasy style
- Local and international DJs play everything from funk to trance across Sydney. Try Tank for R&B, Yu for a dark and intimate dance floor, fabulous Favela for 8,000 lights pulsing in time to the beat, and Home for the whole gamut including lounge—but really, there are great venues to suit all tastes across the city.
- Enjoy a tipple at one of Sydney 's intimate wine bars. Mille Vini has 400 wines to choose from, Time to Vino has cultivated a warm neighbourhood feel, and the charming Ash St Cellar offers tapas and wine by the glass.
- Great gay venues include Homesexual once a month at Home at Darling Harbour, monthly ‘Queer Central’ nights at the Sly Fox in Enmore, and numerous choices on Oxford Street, including The Columbian.
- Visit fantasy rooms. There's Swarovski crystal curtains and hidden corners at the Water Bar in Woolloomooloo, Moroccan-inspired décor at Hemmesphere, Gallic grace at Apertif, and antique furniture and silk-tented ceilings at De Nom, cascading chandeliers and walls of gold at Ruby Rabbit.
- Sydney’s live music scene is alive and kicking. Jazz and blues dominate in the cosy Vanguard and Basement . The 1920s art-deco styling of Supper Club is a good match for regular jazz and lounge music sessions. Or join the mosh pit at venues like The Metro, Annandale Hotel, The Factory and the Mona Vale Hotel.
- Fabulous food…where to start? Great restaurants, bars and cool hotels offer everything from tapas to tofu, Thai to tandoori. Hot food neighbourhoods are Darlinghurst, Surry Hills, Kings Cross, city centre, Paddington, Newtown and Glebe.
