The Australian Museum, the first public museum in Australia, houses extensive collections of natural science and cultural artefacts. Galleries are dedicated to natural history, dinosaurs, Indigenous Australians and Australia’s unique wildlife.
The Indigenous Australians Gallery includes Menagerie, a contemporary sculpture exhibition. It features established and emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island artists who have produced exceptional sculptural works of various native animals.
Open daily, from 9.30am to 5pm, the Australian Museum has behind-the-scenes tours and plenty of activities for children. The popular Dinosaurs exhibition has 10 complete dinosaur skeletons. Personalised tours of the exhibitions are available on request.
